The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced the payment dates for COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant beneficiaries, scheduled for selected dates at the end of April 2026.
Payment Dates for SRD Grant
Beneficiaries will receive their payments on 23–24 April and 29–30 April 2026. These dates provide two separate windows for recipients to access their funds.

Eligibility Criteria for SRD Grant
SASSA reiterated that the SRD grant of R370 continues to be targeted at financially vulnerable individuals who meet strict eligibility requirements.
Legal and Residency Requirements
Applicants must meet specific legal and residency conditions. This includes South African citizens, permanent residents, refugees, asylum seekers with valid documentation, and individuals with special permits under recognised dispensation programmes.
Age and Living Conditions Requirements
Additionally, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 59 years, reside within the borders of South Africa, not be a resident in a government-funded or subsidised institution, and must not unreasonably refuse employment or educational opportunities.

Temporary Assistance for Vulnerable Individuals
The SRD grant continues to provide temporary relief to millions of unemployed South Africans who do not receive other forms of government support.

Beneficiaries are encouraged to verify their payment dates and ensure their personal details are up to date to avoid delays in accessing funds.
